BCC recently became a member of the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB). We sit at the table and are involved in developing the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Crops (CRSC)
Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef
“The CRSB aims to be a national, multi-stakeholder initiative developed to advance existing and new sustainability efforts within the industry. The CRSB will lead a national forum dedicated to connecting a network of local, regional and national leaders in the beef industry with a common vision and mission. The CRSB gives stakeholders an equal opportunity through equal seats at the Roundtable. Through leadership, science, multi-stakeholder engagement and collaboration continuous improvement of sustainability of the Canadian beef value chain will be achieved and recognized. The CRSB is currently structured as an informal organization of interested participants and is not organized for the private gain of any person or organization.”
The CRSC Terms of Reference (TOR) are currently being developed.
BCC is pleased to be engaged in the development stages and looks fwd to working together with a diverse group of industry members from across the crops sector. Because barley is such an integral part of the beef and cattle industry and as a member of both groups, BCC is eager to collaborate with members of the CRSB and CRSC on projects that deliver sustainable agriculture in Canada.
The goal is to develop a feed barley sustainability pilot under the CRSC. BCC will be part of the Steering Committee as co-lead.
